The Struggles We Go Through As Petites in Today's Fashion World

As a fellow petite woman, I've always faced the challenge of finding clothes that fit just right. Like many of you, I love wearing beautiful clothing, but options for petites are often limited. Designer dresses tend to be too long and proportions off, leaving some styles looking unflattering without knowing why.

While some big fashion brands offer petite sections, they often just shorten designs meant for taller models. I used to think this was just my problem until I spoke with other women in Melbourne who shared the same frustration. This really came to me as a surprise so I did some further research online and found that almost 50% of the world's population is Petite women, but to my surprise it is still very overlooked.

For this reason, I set out to help other petite women like myself by creating clothing specifically designed to fit and flatter our unique body types. My goal was to craft garments that not only fit perfectly but also enhance our figures, making us appear taller (this was common goal that I share with other petite women I have spoken with, but if you have a different one, please do share with me!). I also aimed to offer a diverse range of styles that accommodate various body shapes, combining timeless designs with high-quality craftsmanship (which you will find it equivalent to the quality of any high-end designer brands out there, at a more affordable option though!).

A bit about me — the founder behind Sylphic. I'm a fashion designer who has been dedicated to this craft since I was 16. I've spent countless hours in the sewing room, refining my skills and even earning some awards along the way — here are some snapshots of me, when I was featured in local newspapers for winning design awards year after year. With over a decade of experience, I've put everything I have, including my personal savings, into creating Sylphic. Without the backing of large funds, I've worked tirelessly through trials and errors to bring Petite women garments that fit perfectly. While I aimed to create a diverse range of designs, the only downside is that I wasn't able to produce them in large quantities. As a result, each design is available in very limited numbers but I hope to bring more for those that become favourites among our community.

I truly believe that by offering the best I can to you my petite fellows, we don't have to go through the frustration of shopping only to return empty-handed and we can ultimately wear beautiful clothes like the ones who called 'standard' height.

If you're a petite woman who appreciates the designs I have created, please follow Sylphic and me on this journey on our social media! With your support, we can together ensuring every petite woman feels seen, confident, and beautiful just the way we are.

I never fully understood the saying, "Follow your passion, and you will never work a day in your life," until I started Sylphic. This venture is deeply personal to me, and I believe that's why I cherish it so much. It's not just about seeing our beautiful petite customers express how our designs make them feel; it's also about hearing how much it means to them to have someone champion their needs and make them feel heard. This is what truly keeps me going, even though the business side of being a designer can be incredibly challenging for me. But I greatly appreciate your support from the start, and thank you all, for believing in me!
